Our Kids Discover America

Thanks to the charitable organisation Orphan's Rainbow (USA), the kids from our Centre were invited to spend their winter holidays from 21 December, 2014, to 12 January, 2015, in the state of Texas, USA. The kids stayed with American families in the cities of McAllen, Mission, Edinburg, and Weslaco.

During those three weeks, the kids got to celebrate Christmas and New Year, experience Texas culture and traditions, particularly try American, Brazilian and Mexican food, go horseback riding on a real rancho, visit the cities of McAllen and San-Antonio, see the Atlantic Ocean with their own eyes, and visit South Padre Island on the Gulf of Mexico. While staying with American families, the kids had an opportunity to hang out with American kids, see Christmas and New Year celebrations, and visit local schools, churches and hospitals.

Of course, the trip would not have been complete without traditional American attractions such as amusement parks and rides, sporting competitions, ice-skating, games, bowling, and movies. The kids had also been invited as VIP guests to a real basketball game between local teams. Our kids returned to Ukraine taking with them lots of presents, joy, and unforgettable memories about the land of the ‘American Dream.’
