On September 14. and 15., 2015, the Centre "Our Kids" hosted an international conference “Ukrainian Education Reform in European Perspective: “Changes Begin in Schools". Among those taking part were journalists, teachers and other academics and Ukrainian and Polish politicians, a total of about 160 people. Ukrainian educational reform, decentralization and related topics, were discussed. This meeting provided an opportunity, especially for teachers and principals, to exchange views and share experiences. The event which was organized by the German-Polish-Ukrainian Society in Ukraine with the support of the Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) was the first step in the implementation of the pilot project "Klasna Shkola" for ten educational institutions in Ukraine. The key speakers were: Lilia Grynevych, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on science and education, Eva Dudek, a Deputy Minister of the National Education of Poland, Inna Sovsun, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Alicja Pacewicz, Center for Citizenship Education, Warsaw (Poland), Polina Verbytska, All-Ukrainian History Teacher's Association "Nova Doba", Jan Herczyński, SKL International (Sweden). Such events may one day have a positive effect on all children in Ukraine, which is why we agreed to hold the conference at the Centre "Our Kids" for free. |
